How Does it Work?

Now with a cut­ting edge tech­nol­ogy, the fin­ger­prints are dig­i­tally scanned with state-of-the-art fin­ger­print scan­ner at a cap­ture sta­tion. The scanned fin­ger­prints along with the appli­ca­tion infor­ma­tion are trans­mit­ted, via a secure link, to the RCMP’s Real Time Iden­ti­fi­ca­tion (RTID) sys­tem.World­wide Foren­sic Ser­vices Inc. is accred­ited and cer­ti­fied by the Royal Cana­dian Mounted Police (RCMP) to cap­ture and sub­mit fin­ger­prints for crim­i­nal back­ground checks. As com­pared to inked fin­ger­prints sub­mit­ted by mail or courier, the elec­tronic sub­mis­sion of fin­ger­prints has reduced the turn­around time from 2,3 months to 72 hours*.

After com­par­ing sub­mit­ted fin­ger­prints with the crim­i­nal record data­base, the RCMP issues a cer­tifi­cate to the appli­cant or an autho­rized third party. If the results are to be sent to the third party, the appli­cant needs to pro­vide cor­rect address includ­ing postal code  of the third party and has to give con­sent by sign­ing a con­sent form** and also by affix­ing a fin­ger­print at the time of  scan­ning of fin­ger­prints.  A copy of the dig­i­tal sub­mis­sion to the RCMP may be pur­chased by the appli­cant for a small fee.

* The appli­ca­tion is nor­mally processed in this time frame.  This time does not include the tran­sit time. Pro­cess­ing time may be longer if prior crim­i­nal history/record is discovered.
